Dream Sock size and use guide

Using the Dream Sock correctly

The Dream Sock comes with four fabric socks: size 1 and size 2, each for the left and the right foot. Every sock is marked L or R. The right size and a correct fit give reliable readings and a comfortable sock.

Which size do I choose?

Choose the size based on your baby's weight.

SizeYour baby's weight
Size 1up to 5.4 kg
Size 25.4 to 13.6 kg

The Dream Sock is intended for healthy babies aged 0 to 18 months, weighing 2.5 to 13.6 kg. Stop using the Dream Sock once your baby weighs 13.6 kg or outgrows the largest size. If every size is too small or too large, do not use the Dream Sock.

Putting the sock on

  1. Make sure your baby's foot is clean and dry, without lotion or powder. Never put the sock on wet skin.
  2. Attach the sensor to the sock: line up the notch on the sensor with the notch on the sock and stretch the opening of the sock over the sensor.
  3. Take the sock for the correct foot (L or R). Place the notch on the outside of the foot, behind the little toe. The sock should not touch the toes.
  4. Fasten the toe strap around the foot, above the toes. Then wrap the ankle strap around the back of the ankle and fasten it on top of the foot.

How tight should it be?

The sock and straps lie flat and snug against the skin without pressing into it. Do not stretch the straps when fastening them. A sock that is too tight can cause a pressure mark over long periods. A sock that is too loose, with the sensor lifting off the skin, can interrupt readings.

  • A strap does not reach the fastener without stretching? Choose the larger size.
  • A strap goes past the fastener? Choose the smaller size.

Switch feet every 8 hours, or each time you recharge the sensor. Check the skin at least every 8 hours. In the first week and after changing sock size, do this every 4 hours. If your baby has sensitive skin, check and switch feet every 4 hours.

If red marks appear on the foot around the sensor, stop using the Dream Sock immediately. If you have any questions, contact your doctor or healthcare provider.

Cleaning

Clean the sock, and spot clean the sensor, at least every two weeks, or more often when visibly soiled. Turn the sensor off first, via the base station or in the app.

  • Fabric sock: machine wash on a gentle cycle. Lay flat or hang to dry, do not tumble dry.
  • Sensor: never submerge it and never put it in the washing machine. Scrub it with a soft toothbrush lightly dipped in soapy water made with the detergent you use for baby clothes. Then brush it with clean water until no soap residue remains. Gently press it into a dry towel and let it air dry on the towel until completely dry, not in a tumble dryer.
  • Do not use hand soap, dish soap, bleach, ammonia or alcohol.
